6. BMW X5 xDrive50i - 4.9 seconds

While the 2014 BMW X5 M hasn’t been introduced (and may have been axed entirely, enthusiasts can still opt for the X5 xDrive50i which features a 4.4-liter V8 turbocharged engine providing 445 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque with a $69,125 price tag. The BMW X5 xDrive50i gets 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, but is able to accelerate 0-60 in just 4.9 seconds.

Why only include the 0-60 times? I think the 1/4 mile might be a better test overall instead of just the quick sprint, otherwise I thought the article was great.

  • MattieS

Maybe they’re thinking in the span of red light to red light. . . . .

  • ColoradotoCali

The X6 M is the fastest SUV – 0 to 60 in 4 seconds…not sure how you got your numbers on the Porsches

  • STI Turbo

most cars here are european, and no one uses 1/4 mile times as benchmarks in europe so brands do not release this data.

  • worldbfree4me

Nice, but there is no way I’d pay that for a Jeep. So, I suppose that Audi and the BMW present the best value proposition at least until the Porsche Maccan arrives!

  • Twinkledoodle

why not? great interior and fast. best value out of these SUVs

  • Justin Wallace

The fastest SUV is the Nissan Juke-R….

  • mcooper

What about the fx50 at 5.0 seconds

  • Lame

It’s distressing to see so many cars on a list of SUVs. Hardly any of these are actually Sport Utility Vehicles. Some of them appear to be the size of COMPACT cars.

  • frank

I can’t believe the Toyota FJ didn’t make this list. They are incredibly quick.

  • Boris

I’ve timed my slightly modified QX70S at 4.8

  • Bill

Where is the Porsche Macan Turbo with the Sport Chrono package? It’s rated at 4.4 seconds, and should just sort of be made into the RS Q5…

  • Dino A

Was the ML 63 AMG with the performance package or not? If not, i have destroyed every cayenne S i have ever raced…. this is before i put my Renntech chip in… after that its not even fair, i can take 911’s…

Put the HellCat Supercharge in the Grand Cherokee..it’ll smoke all of them. When Chrysler (jeep) starts supercharging or turbocharging their Vehicals…Game Over…hellcat engine 6.2 600+hp 600+ lb of torque ..not even Germans can screw with it. U gotta give Jeep it’s probs for the 6.4..the top five were either turbo or supercharged…once Chrysler starts bringing in the HellCat Enginr..again game over for all. I driven the new SRT GC…it’s handled and goes like a beast!

I just got rid of my Jeep Grand Cherokee and replaced it with a Subaru Forester and an Audi Q5 and I could not be happier.
My Subaru kicks but in quality, reliability, safety and off roading AWD
My Audi Q5 TDI with over 400 ft/lbs of Torque and over 30 mpg out powers and out accelerates almost anything chrysler could even dream of.
Jeep has good power & great off roading but quality, reliability and durability as well as safety all suck. Stupid issues like the A/C, the heater and stupid power windows falling into the doors because of the use of cheap plastic components all ruined the Jeep and chrysler brand to make me give up on all chrysler products after having owned 5 chryslers, from every decade since the 50’s except one.
    1. 1956 Plymouth Savoy w/ push button transmission
    2. 1973 Plymouth Fury III
    3. 1985 Dodge B150 Cargo Van
    4. 1997 Chrysler
    5. 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

oh and the notorious electrical issues that every chrysler will eventually have, sad, sad sad.

More Jeep Recalls for quality and safety.
it doesn’t even matter what your SUV can or can not due if it is unsafe and keeps breaking.
Stupid chrysler has ruined and destroyed Jeep, even before Mercedes and Fiat got involved, but if you check out FIAT’s history, things will probably only get worse

There is a world of difference between a Cayenne S and a Cayenne Turbo S…about 130 horsepower to start.

  • NannerAirCraft

Can’t wait for the Tesla Model X with dual motors to beat all of these cars probably with a less than 4 sec 0-60 time.
