The RS 5 DTM car had a complete aerodynamic make over compared to last year’s car, giving it a new wide and low appearance. “In addition to the suspension, our main priority was to improve the aero,” says Stefan Aicher, Head of Vehicle Design at Audi Sport.
Up front, the race car sports the honeycomb grille found on the road-going RS 5, while new air ducts have been added to feed the engine and brakes. New mirrors have been added as well along with new inner rear wheel arches that are closed. “For example, we made suspension modifications to the front and rear axles, from which we expect improvements,” says Aicher, though he did not want to go into detail.
