Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Reveals the GT-R Inside

Infiniti’s Q50 Eau Rouge Concept is fresh out of its shipping container here in Geneva, Switzerland with some scintillating news.

The company’s conceptual performance car just lifted its hood to reveal that Nissan lent its Godzilla heart to the project. That’s right, the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 also found in the GT-R is lurking under the hood with 560 horses of the apocalypse and just over 442 lb-ft of torque.

That power is routed to all four wheels via a seven-speed unspecified gearbox with a 50/50 power division between the front and rear wheels. Infiniti says that’s good for an estimated sprint to 60 mph in under four seconds and a top speed of almost 180 mph.

Plans to put such a car into series production are still unconfirmed, but says it is determined to create “engaging performance cars for a premium segment.” What better way to do that than to stroll down the hall and borrow the hulking GT-R engine?

In addition to the concept car, Infiniti also announced in Geneva that it will offer a new turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in the Q50 making 211 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. Initially available in China in the Spring and then Europe in the Fall, Infiniti says it will begin rollout of the engine to other global markets later in the year, though it’s not yet confirmed for the U.S.

500+ HP is impressive as is the gallery of picture of the exterior and interior. Would have been nice if the company would have also literally “lifted the hood” so we could see in the engine bay. Did I miss that picture?
