Each week AutoGuide.com rounds up the most popularly vehicles in its new car schopping section.

This week, the Cadillac ATS was the most commonly queried on the site. The company sells it with a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit and a 3.6-liter V6. Based on General Motors rear-wheel drive Alpha platform, many regard the ATS to be the segment leader for driving dynamics.

Closely following the Cadillac, Meredes-Benz’ CLA 250 also drew significant interest this week. The front-drive based vehicle is now available at dealers with 4Matic all-wheel drive.

Honda’s 2014 Civic came in third place. The Japanese giant made fast changes again for the 2014 model year by offering the vehicle with a continuously-variable transmission in order to ensure its popular compact car remains competitive.

Speaking of transmissions, the nine-speed automatic in the Jeep Cherokee is worth mentioning. It is ment to help the crossover manage up to 31 mpg on the highway with the base 2.4-liter four cylinder engine and without being witthed with an all-wheel drive setup.

But it saving gas is really a priority, the fifth vehicle on this list is tough to beat. Toyota’s city-friendly Prius C offers 50 mpg on average between city and highway driving.
