Ford Recalls 43K Vehicles for Weak Welds

This week starts off with another new recall from one of the big three American automakers.

Ford is calling back the Fusion, Escape and C-Max along with the Lincoln MKZ over concerns that the welds in the seat back recliner mechanism may be of insufficient strength. That means that the back of the affected seats may become loose or lean back while driving, increasing the risk of an injury.

All of the vehicles affected are from the 2013 and 2014 model year, and in total, 43,135 vehicles are affected.

The recall is expected to begin on May 19, 2014. Owners will be notified by mail and dealers will change the seatbacks free of charge.
