Mazda MX-5 Miata 25th Anniversary Edition Revealed

After two and a half decades of Miatas, Mazda is preparing to launch the next generation of its iconic sports car while debuting a 25th anniversary edition model today at the New York Auto Show.

Sold as a 2015 model, the small sports car will be available in extremely limited quantities with just 100 vehicles set to hit dealers across the U.S.

Billed as a “thank you” to enthusiasts, the new car comes coated in a Soul Red Metallic paint with black for the A-pillars, window surround, mirrors and Power-Retractable Hard Top (PRHT). Other black highlights include dark headlight bezels, 17-inch gunmetal 10-spoke wheels and Bridgestone Potenza RE05A 205/45R17 tires.

Inside there’s no shortage of premium equipment with Almond leather seats, red stitching and a satin chrome finish for dash accents and door handles. There’s also plenty of gloss black on the seatbacks and steering wheel while black leather is used for the steering wheel, parking brake lever, armrests and shift lever boot. Aluminum pedals and a selection of 25th anniversary badging compliment the look. Outside the driver’s side front fender displays the car’s serial number.

But perhaps most special of all, Mazda says that while the engine is seemingly unchanged, only the best components, meeting the highest tolerances were selected for the pistons, connecting rods and flywheel to ensure a superior performance. In fact, Mazda says the engine will rev more freely with better response.

On sale this Spring, Mazda will offer pre-ordering of the car at with news of the pre-order process set to be announced in the coming weeks on the brand’s social media platforms.
