The Mazda Tribute has been recalled in cold-weather states for rusty frame parts.
The Japanese automaker is recalling 109,000 of its Tribute SUVs from the 2001-2004 model years stating that the frame can rust and a wheel control arm can separate from it, potentially resulting in a loss of steering control. According to the recall notice, the SUVs were originally sold or registered in 20 cold-weather states and Washington, D.C., all of which use salt to clear snow and ice from the roads.
To fix the problem, Mazda dealers will install a reinforcement brace and Mazda will be notifying customers when the part is available.
