McLaren may have just returned to the U.S. in motorsports, but it has no intentions of slowing down especially now that the 650S is on the market.
The British automaker has great plans for the new 650S and the sports car will follow in the footsteps of the MP4-12C by going racing… and lots of it. Plans for race variants of the 650S include the 650S GT Sprint and the 650S GT3, though a Can-Am Edition similar to the 12C version is still undecided. As for the 650S GT Sprint, it will follow the 12C GT Sprint and features updated aerodynamics, suspension, safety equipment and a set of Pirelli race slicks. The new Sprint track car will launch later this year and McLaren could change the name beforehand to avoid confusion with the 12C GT Sprint.

More exciting is the 650S GT3 that will make an appearance next season. Expect the 650S GT3 to be similar to the 12C GT3 but receiving the newer front end. Currently, K-Pax Racing is competing in the Pirelli World Challenge with the 12C GT3 but expect the sports car to also make appearances in other motorsports series such as the Blancpain Endurance Series and the European Le Mans Series.
