Honda will reveal the latest version of its ASIMO robot on April 15.
The advanced humanoid robot will make an appearance on Live with Michael and Kelly and will demonstrate some of its new robotic abilities. The latest version of ASIMO, which stands for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, features enhanced hand dexterity, a faster running speed, the ability to climb stairs more smoothly, hop, jump, balance on one foot and transition seamlessly from walking and running.
The first version of ASIMO was introduced in 2000 and was created to assist people with their daily lives. The latest ASIMO is 4’3″ tall and weighs 110 lbs.
“ASIMO was designed to help those in society who need assistance, and Honda believes that these improvements in ASIMO bring us another step closer to our ultimate goal of being able to help all kinds of people in need,” said Satoshi Shigemi, Senior Chief Engineer with Honda R&D Co., Ltd. in Japan, responsible for humanoid robotics.
