How hot would a Volkswagen Golf R be with 395 hp? This hot.
The German automaker has unveiled the Volkswagen Golf R 400 concept at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, getting its name for having 400 PS, or 395 hp. That means it’s a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine pushing out even more power than the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG (355 hp), which currently has the claim of being the most powerful production four-cylinder engine. As a result, the Golf R 400 can blast to 62 mph from a standstill in 3.9 seconds and it’s a complete shame it’s merely a concept.

But it does show the power potential of the potent 2.0-liter under the hood of the Golf R with 332 lb-ft of torque backing up the ponies. It’s not all about go for Volkswagen either, as the hot hatch looks even hotter thanks to a lowered stance, 19-inch wheels and racy yellow accents. But the interior is what’s particularly stunning, with race seats to die for, plenty of Alcantara and carbon-styled leather. Yes, it’s likely that Volkswagen borrowed a bit within the Volkswagen Group by pulling some goodies from Lamborghini for its Golf R 400.
