Nissan to Revive Pulsar Nameplate

The Nissan Pulsar nameplate is coming back from the dead.

The Japanese automaker will introduce its latest upcoming hatch on Tuesday, May 20 and will be heading to European showrooms this fall. There are currently no plans to bring the Pulsar to the U.S. market. Nissan teased the above image of the Pulsar ahead of its debut, hinting that it’ll share similar styling with the X-Trail and Qashqai models.

According to Nissan, the Pulsar is a spacious five-door hatchback designed to meet the “specific demands of European car buyers.” It is likely that it will share four-cylinder powerplants with the Qashqai and X-Trail which include 1.5- and 1.6-liter diesel engines and 1.2- and 1.6-liter turbo gasoline powerplants. With the push that Nissan is making with its NISMO sub-brand, expect a high-performance variant down the road. The new Nissan Pulsar will be built at the automaker’s plant in Barcelona, Spain.
