Nokia Investing $100M in Connected Car Tech

Nokia might not be a big name in smartphones these days, but the company isn’t ignoring today’s rising technologies.

The company has announced a $100 million Connected Car Fund where it’ll be backing mobility innovators globally to help further the research of connected cars. Nokia has been working on its own style of mapping software called HERE and has demonstrated in a couple of videos how that software will benefit connected car technologies in the future.

According to the head of the HERE program, Michael Halbherr, the Connected Car Fund “underscores that connectivity is rapidly reshaping what is possible in the car environment,” he said. “We believe that connected cars equipped with precise location awareness and sensor data can become powerful devices capable of helping drivers make sense of the world around them.”
