It appears from our new spy photos that the Honda Civic Type R Concept’s aggressive styling will trickle down to the standard production model.

The Japanese automaker isn’t just working on its high-performance Type R model right now, it is also gearing up to give regular Civic models a facelift. This particular prototype was spied testing on public roads and it reveals that the Civic will get a whole new front end that is heavily inspired by the Civic Type R concept.

The headlights essentially look like the units found on the concept while the rear tail lights sport new LEDs. Overall, the Honda Civic is getting a much sportier design thanks to larger air intakes in the front bumper and an aggressive rear diffuser.

However, the Civic Type R will not be making its way to North America, so this new look for the Civic may only be for Europe.

Hopefully Honda will offer a hatchback variant in the next generation NA Civic. Other cars that compete within the C-segment already offer one (Subaru Impreza, Mazda 3).

Finally we agree! Bring back the Civic hatch!

  • Shiratori90

Correct, but I believe that the last time the hatch style was offered for the NA Civic (non-Si), it was manual only. That’s not going to work in today’s environment. It NEEDS to have an automatic.

I’ll give you that…. though a stick option would be nice. :-P
