Everyone in the auto racing world has had Michael Schumacher in their thoughts since the former F1-champ went into a coma after a skiing accident, and now it looks like someone it trying to benefit from this hardship.
The UK’s Daily Mail is reporting that Schumacher’s manager has confirmed that his medical records have been stolen, and are being offered up for sale. While the identity of the thief is unknown, Schumacher’s manager, Sabine Kehm, said that legal action will be taken if the records do find their way into public hands.
“For several days stolen documents and data are being offered for sale,” Kehm said in a statement. “The offeror claims them to be the medical file of Michael Schumacher. We cannot judge if these documents are authentic. However, the documents are clearly stolen. The theft has been reported. The authorities are involved,” she said.
Schumacher was in a French hospital in a medically induced coma for nearly six months.
