A high-performance ‘V’ version of the Cadillac CTS has just turned up in Germany, testing on the roads that surround the Nürburgring.
The CTS-V has always been the pinnacle of Cadillac performance, and the new version is expected to use a twin-turbo V8 to keep it that way. It may displace 6.2-liters, but odds are it will be a version of the 4.5-liter turbocharged V8 that turned up in the Elmiraj Concept. Although the engine is unknown, it will have to make around 550 hp if it hopes to compete with the BMW M5 or Mercedes E63 AMG.
Since the last time we caught a CTS-V testing, a new body kit has been installed onto the car which adds a fixed rear wing along with lower side skirts and a large front splitter. More stopping power is fitted to this prototype thanks to larger calipers, and the large pronounced hump in the hood that was introduced on the last-generation car is still present.
Tomorrow, the Cadillac engineers will probably hit the Nürburgring to put the car though a serious set of performance challenges and our spy photographers will be there to shoot the action.
