Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally is joining one of the world’s largest tech corporations.
Google has announced that Mulally has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors and will serve on its Audit Committee. There’s a bit of irony in the announcement, considering Mulally was once a frontrunner to take over the position of CEO at Microsoft, a competitor to Google.
Mulally served as Ford’s CEO from September 2006 through June 2014 and prior to that, Mulally was Executive Vice President of the Boeing Company and President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Inc. He also had a stint as the President of Boeing’s space and defense business.
Recently, Ford announced an Alan Mulally Engineering Scholarship in honor of its former CEO.
“Alan brings a wealth of proven business and technology leadership experience,” said Larry Page, CEO of Google. “I am so pleased that Alan is now joining Google’s board!”
