Hyundai is readying its next-generation Santa Fe to seat up to eight people.

The redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe long wheelbase is expected to arrive dealership showrooms in three years and will be widened to offer more seat space. According to Hyundai Motor America CEO Dave Zuchowski, in an interview with Edmunds, the Korean automaker believes buyers want “a real eight-passenger vehicle with cargo space.”

The company also revealed that it is considering expanding its crossover lineup with a premium model targeting the Lexus RX. Though it isn’t in the immediate plan for Hyundai to develop such a model, the company isn’t ruling it out especially since it wants to move upmarket.

In GCC we already have it here with 8 seats, in-fact both the SWB and LWB has 8 seats... the only downsides we have is we don't have the turbo engine, only the 2.4 i4 and 3.3 v6 engines are available ( the LWB only comes with the V6 while the SWB comes with both ), the V6 has lower fuel economy than the rest... and we don't have some features that other markets have like blind-spot warning, lane departure warning... and the dealers does not bring some important accessories, most notably the hatch !! but generally, I hope it comes with these options, a hybrid version also, a remote start feature and please make the power lift gate also in the SWB
