Polaris Slingshot Detailed in New Video

There’s another three-wheeling vehicle available on the market.

Polaris has spilled more details on its Slingshot, a three-wheeler motorcycle powered by a 2.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine with 173 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque. The powerplant is mated exclusively to a five-speed manual transmission. That might not sound like much, but keep in mind that the Slingshot only weighs 1,725 lbs.

Sporting a wide track of 69.1 inches, the Slingshot has a ride height of just fives inches. Up front is a double-wishbone suspension setup with coilovers while steering is power assisted. Options for the Polaris Slingshot include a waterproof infotainment system with navigation and Bluetooth and a backup camera. Standard features include LED tail lights, projector beam headlights, ABS, electronic stability control and a two-year warranty.

The Polaris Slingshot will start from $19,999 for the base model while the Slingshot XL will run $23,999.

I don’t see any motorcycle in that… the real question is, how many lateral Gs can it pull?

Also, that’s a really tame engine for something that looks so racy. If it actually were a motorcycle, I would expect 300+ HP from that displacement. Motorcycles engines have been making 150 HP/liter for 20 years now.

While the engine is junk, that’s probably one of the reasons it’s such a cheap vehicle for that segment. Looks so sweet, I can’t wait to see and test one…
