Porsche has been forced to shuffle some of its packaging and models to make sure that its prices don’t intersect.

To make way for the new Macan small crossover, which starts at $50,895, Porsche has cut the cheapest Cayenne model which was available for $50,595.

When the new 2015 Cayenne arrives in dealers in November, it will do so with a $62,695 base price. For that starting price you get the Cayenne diesel, while buyers have three other trims to choose from, ranging from the $73,105 Cayenne S up to the $112,605 Cayenne Turbo.

The big news for the 2015 Cayenne is the addition of the plug-in S E-Hybrid model, which uses a 3.0-liter supercharged engine mated to an electric motor to provide a total system output of 416 hp and 435 lb-ft of torque.

Demand for the Porsche Cayenne has far outpaced supply in recent years, so Porsche is not too worried about Cayenne owners giving them up for Macans. But, the brand still expects there to be at least a 10 to 15 percent substitution rate between the Cayenne and Macan.
