Most Researched Cars of the Week: July 6 – 12

The most researched cars this week hail from Italy, the U.S., and Japan ranging from luxury to low-cost transportation.

The Maserati Ghibli made this week’s list. Meant to help the company reach higher sales volumes by competing with cars like the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series. As Maseratis run, the Ghibli is an affordable car. Of course, it’s still expensive.

But if you want a bang-for-your-buck bargain, Ford’s Focus ST is a good place to start. The hot hatch uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to send 247 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels through a six-speed manual.

Toyota’s Tacoma mid-size truck was also heavily shopped. GM is about to re-enter the segment with the Canyon and Colorado to compete with Toyota in a segment that the company has dominated for years.

Then there’s the Honda Civic, which was also a popularly searched this week. For the 2014 model year, Honda revised the Civic by swapping the automatic transmission for a CVT.

Finally, Subaru’s BRZ sports car made the list this week. The lightweight rear-wheel drive coupe is a break in tradition for the Japanese brand normally focused on all-wheel drive vehicles.
