The Cadillac LTS flagship will make its debut at next year’s New York Auto Show.
Inspired by the Elmiraj concept, the flagship LTS will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series and Audi A8. The new rear-wheel drive model will be based on the American automaker’s new Omega platform and will likely come in coupe and convertible form at a later date.
It remains to be seen what will power the new flagship model but possibilities include a twin-turbo V6, a refined variant of a 5.3-liter V8 or even a version of the Elmiraj concept’s twin-turbo V8 engine. Whichever powerplant the American decides on, expect it to be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission or even a 10-speed if it’s available in time. Though the LTS moniker hasn’t been confirmed, Cadillac trademarked the nameplate earlier this year.
Once it makes its debut in April 2015, expect production to start in the third quarter of next year.
