Ford has been ranked the best automaker to work for in America.
With 181,000 employees, Ford is the only automaker to make it onto a list of America’s Best Companies to Work for, landing in the 64th position. The company has an annual revenue of $146.9 billion and former CEO Alan Mulally was the second highest rated CEO of 2014 with a Glassdoor rating of 97-percent approval. Current CEO Mark Fields has a Glassdoor CEO rating of 88 percent.
Ford’s employees have largely positive comments about the company, specifically citing excellent pay and benefits. The majority of the American automaker’s plants and offices are located in Michigan, Ohio and other states that is typically considered the Rust Belt.
Though it’s not an automaker, engine maker Cummins was ranked 69th on the list while John Deere ranked 42nd. In order to determine America’s Best Employers, 24/7 Wall St. independently reviewed employee ratings and testimonials on Glassdoor.com. To be considered, a company had to have at least 300 reviews and employers were excluded if they were a government agency or bureau, a non-profit or a subsidiary of a larger company.
