Audi has unveiled the second model in its new TT family.
The Audi TT and TTS roadster models have been revealed ahead of their 2014 Paris Motor Show debut with the third-generation TT convertible model being everything you’d expect after seeing the 2015 Audi TT coupe. In North America, the TT roadster will be available with a 2.0-liter TFSI engine sporting 220 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque with Quattro all-wheel drive as standard. Unfortunately for manual transmission enthusiasts, the TT roadster will only be offered with a six-speed “wet” dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Built on the German automaker’s modular MQB platform, the TT roadster doesn’t deviate far from its coupe counterpart and will be available with a range of technologies such as telematics and assistance systems. Naturally the innovative TFT instrument cluster will be found in the cabin that includes an optional navigation screen that displays in front of the driver.
Unlike the coupe, the TT roadster will only offer seating for two with two fixed roll bars located behind the front seats. The fabric top can be opened or closed within 10 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph and according to Audi, the new lid is lighter than the one found on its predecessor but is better insulated from road and wind noise. No official U.S. pricing on the TT roadster has been announced yet, but expect more information when it arrives in the middle of 2015.

“The concept of designing a compact roadster following clear geometrical rules formed the original idea for the Audi TT in autumn 1994,” said Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board Member for Technical Development at AUDI AG: “From the first generation on, it has been a sports car for the senses – a driving machine with an authentic design. With the new TT Roadster, we have developed this concept in a consistent manner and further improved the technical experience in the car with innovations such as the Audi virtual cockpit.”
