When Mercedes-Benz reveals its new sports car in Paris later this week, there will be more than the GT and punchier GT-S versions slated for a long-term showroom presence.
As is the established custom for Mercedes lunatic tuning arm, there will be a special “Edition 1” launch edition of the car built in limited quantity to mark the model’s introduction. Images of the car leaked ahead of its planned premier, tipping what the special and more expensive version will look like.
Carbon fiber trim on the front bumper and rocker panels help set the model apart along with 10-spoke alloy wheels and a fixed rear wing in place of the automatically articulating spoiler usually included with the new GT.
Images of the interior weren’t leaked, but rumor has it Mercedes kitted out the cabin with yellow accents on the seats and steering wheel along with carbon fiber inserts in the instrument panel.
The changes Mercedes made are all cosmetic, meaning the biturbo 4.0-liter V8 remains with 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque just like the normal GTS model. That power is routed to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission that make a sprint to 60 MPH in 3.7 seconds possible while the top speed is limited to 192 MPH.
Production is limited to the first model year and you can expect to see limited numbers of them trickling into U.S. showrooms sometime in 2015.
