Audi just released a teaser image tipping its plans to show a flagship concept car next month at the L.A. Auto Show.

The new concept will reveal a new design strategy for the company that is being implemented by recently-installed design boss Marc Lichte. The teaser previews what looks like a four-door coupe that could turn out to be an early peek at what could eventually be branded as an A9.

Expected to preview a sportier and more technical design direction, the concept will retain Audi’s single-frame grille, but with tweaks to reflect the new design. The teaser image also shows a rear end that cuts off abruptly, which could indicate that the concept has a shooting brake style hatch.

Audi’s updated styling will start appearing in production form first on the fourth-generation A8 that is expected to debut in 2016.
