Ford Focus RS Spied Training to Fight Civic Type R

Ford Focus RS Spied Training to Fight Civic Type R

Ford’s upcoming Focus RS continues to take shape.

Our spy photographers have snapped some new pictures of the car on the roads surrounding the Nürburgring sporting a new front fascia. Though it still appears somewhat cobbled together, the front end of this prototype is likely the closest resemblance we’ve seen yet to the production version.

Though confirmation has not been forthcoming from Ford, the car is expected to be powered by the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, tuned to produce around 350 hp. All-wheel drive is also expected, but most important is that the Focus RS is almost a sure thing for the North American market.

With AWD, this will kill the Honda, no questions asked.

That’s it, I’m moving to Europe

If it’s AWD, it’s not competing with the Civic Type R. FWD is the whole point of the record that Honda is chasing.

Most cool – suspect manual only since that is the way with Ford ST. At 350 hp…..we already have the engine for the Mustang Ecoboost Plus! Will be interesting to see what kind of AWD is employed – maybe Golf R like, i.e FWD until needed and with the ability to send most of the power to the rear. Have a feeling this maybe a limited production though :s.
