Honda is coming back to F1 racing and they’re doing it in true Honda fashion.
While Honda as a manufacturer has had little success at the pinnacle of motorsports, as an engine supplier the Japanese automaker has won plenty.
In fact, from 1986 to 1991 Honda supplied engines to six consecutive constructors championships (four of which were with McLaren). During that time drivers of Honda cars also captured five consecutive drivers championships.
For the 2015 season Honda Motor Co. Ltd. will follow that same path, partnering with McLaren to supply engines to the successful team.
With only this single glimpse having been shared, more on the engine will be revealed over the course of the 2014 FIA Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix this weekend, with a video of the engine in action set to be revealed Monday, October 6th.
