2016 Cadillac CTS-V Rumored to Pack 640 HP

With the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V confirmed to make its debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, it’s no surprise rumors are cooking on what will be powering it.

As the flagship performance sedan for the Cadillac brand, at least for the time being, it is anticipated that the CTS-V will pack at least 550 hp in order to compete with vehicles such as the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. So how does a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 under the hood packing 640 hp sound to you?

That’s the latest rumor, which appeared on the Chris Doane Automotive Facebook page, who is one of the photographers that supplies AutoGuide.com with spy photos, like the shot seen above. It wouldn’t be a stretch to believe that Cadillac reached into Chevrolet’s parts bin to pluck out the LT4 found in the new Corvette Z06. Under the hood of the Z06 it’s good for 650 hp, so it’s feasible that it has slightly less performance with a quieter, more restrictive exhaust system for the luxury sedan.

Thankfully we only have to wait a few more weeks until we find out, so stay tuned.
