Chevy ‘Crossvolt’ Badge Trademarked Again

Chevy ‘Crossvolt’ Badge Trademarked Again

It looks almost certain that Chevy will be using the ‘Crossvolt’ badge sometime in the future.

The brand has submitted a new application to protect the name ‘Crossvolt,’ which is listed for use on an automobile in the filing. The original trademark application for the name was made in 2011, and was extended in 2013 though it was abandoned in November of 2014. The new filing is essentially identical to the original.

In 2010, Chevrolet revealed the Volt MPV5 Concept, essentially a small crossover that uses the same plug-in hybrid powertrain as the Volt sedan. The ‘Crossvolt’ badge seems to be a perfect fit for a crossover version of the Volt.

The new 2016 Volt will debut at the upcoming 2015 Detroit Auto Show in just two weeks, and it’s possible that Chevy will also roll out a new version of the ‘Crossvolt.’
