GM Ignition Switch Death Count Reaches 36

The GM ignition switch claims program has now approved 36 death claims.

Out of a total 2,215 claims, 229 are for cases where somebody died. According to the latest report, 33 of those death claims are ineligible while 74 are deficient and 51 lack proper documentation. Currently there are 35 death claims still under review.

The number of non-death claims now total 1,986 with 142 of those claims representing serious injuries including permanent brain damage or burns. Five of those claims have been approved while 37 more are still under review. As for the claims that resulted in physical injuries requiring hospitalization within 48 hours of the accident, 39 of those have been approved while 303 are still under review.
