Ford has donated the first production Shelby GT350R to the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction.
Sporting VIN#001, the Ford Shelby GT350R will cross the auction block on Saturday and the winning bidder will be able to choose from available colors and packages for the new sports car. All benefits from the auction will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the Shelby GT350R will be sold at no reserve. In addition, to make the car even more special, team members involved in the design and development of the GT350R will sign the car in appreciation of the donations to JDRF.
The Ford Shelby GT350R made its debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show sporting a 5.2-liter flat-plane V8 engine churning over 500 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. It will be produced in limited quantities and will be available in dealerships later this year.
“The Shelby GT350R is a world-class car, the best performing Mustang that we have ever built,” said Raj Nair, Ford Group Vice President, Global Product Development. “We are thrilled to donate the first retail production Shelby GT350R to JDRF for auction. When this car crosses the auction block it should raise a tremendous amount of money for a great charity.”
