The Golf SportWagen Alltrack will arrive in 2016 as 2017 model, offering those looking for a wagon rugged looks and added capability.
The brand’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system is included as standard equipment on the Alltrack, which rides nearly an inch higher than the standard Golf SportWagen. Plastic body cladding and revised front and rear bumpers set this model apart from the standard SportWagen visually.
For the best fuel economy possible, the Golf SportWagen Alltrack uses front-wheel drive power until slip is detected. It will then send up to 50 percent of the engine’s power to the rear wheels, through a longitudinally mounted Haldex-5 coupling and on to an electronic differential lock.
The new Golf SportWagen Alltrack will compete directly with the Subaru XV Crosstrek.
