Aston Martin DBX Crossover Production Confirmed

Aston Martin has confirmed it will build a crossover based on the DBX Concept.

The British automaker has procured an additional £200 million investment from its major shareholders, Investindustrial and Tejara Capital, which will allow them to go ahead with development of the crossover. The brand is counting on the new crossover model line to help drive future growth.

The Aston Martin DBX Crossover Concept that was shown at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show was all electric, but Aston CEO Andy Palmer says that the production version will have a gasoline engine along with a plug-in hybrid setup at launch. An all-electric version may be added later. Palmer also says that the crossover will have a high seating position, making it more accessible to everyone. It will be a five door model, not a three door like the concept.

“The additional investment announced today will allow us to realise the DBX and other new luxury vehicles that will form the strongest and most diverse portfolio in our history,” said Palmer.
