Tesla Model S 70D Announced

Telsa announced a more affordable version of its all-wheel drive Model S today.

The Model S 70D will start at $75,000, representing an $11,400 discount over the 85D. Tesla said today that the car will come with a 70kWh battery pack that will give it a maximum range of 250 miles traveling at 65 MPH and the ability to reach 60 MPH in 5.2 seconds.

That means it won’t offer the same supercar rivaling initial acceleration as the P85D, which can hit that speed in 3.2 seconds, but the arrival of a more affordable all-wheel drive model might make Model S ownership appealing to a fresh group of customers living in regions where a powerful rear-wheel drive vehicle isn’t feasible.
