The 2015 Audi Q5 has earned the highest safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The midsize luxury SUV received structural improvements for protection in small overlap front crashes this year, helping it earn a good rating on the small overlap crash test. According to IIHS, that rating applies to all Audi Q5 models built after January 2015 as vehicles that have come off the assembly line after that date have a reinforced front end and occupant compartment.

When the small overlap front crash test was performed on the 2015 Audi Q5, the driver’s space was maintained reasonably well, with maximum intrusion of four inches at the lower door hinge pillar. In addition, the driver dummy’s movement was well-controlled with the head hitting the front airbag and staying cushioned until rebound. The side curtain airbag also deployed and provided enough forward coverage to protect the head from contact with side structure and outside objects.
