PSC Motors Developing 1700-HP Plug-in Hybrid Hypercar

A Las Vegas-based automaker is developing a crazy plug-in hybrid hypercar.

PSC Motors has revealed the SP-200 SIN that is still in its early phases of development. It boasts a 9.0-liter V8 naturally-aspirated engine paired to an electric motor to deliver a total combined system output of 1,700 hp. The plug-in hybrid will feature a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive setup with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and is targeting other exotics from Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche and Koenigsegg. According to PSC Motors, the SP-200 SIN will be capable of going 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds with a top speed of over 280 mph. In addition, it’ll have an electric-only range of around 30 miles.

All that power will be combined with an impressive power-to-weight ratio as the company promises to use plenty of carbon fiber and aluminum in the SP-200 SIN’s construction. Currently the company’s goal is for the plug-in hybrid exotic to weigh under 3,100 lbs while measuring 4.4 meters long, 2 meters wide and 1.1 meters high.

Speaking to Autocar, PSC Motors CEO Antonio Calva said that the company is aiming for production to begin in 2016 following a full preview of the car on June 1.

“When this project was started five years ago, we wanted to do something new, something special that can pay tribute to some of the world’s fastest cars,” said Calva. “Nobody needs 1000 horsepower, so we gave it more.”
