The 2017 Audi S5 has joined the A5 for testing in Germany.
The German automaker is wasting no time testing its next-generation luxury sports coupe with both the A5 and S5 now spied testing. Although the camouflage is doing a great job concealing the majority of the 2017 Audi S5’s body lines, it appears that design from the Prologue concept has spilled to the production S5 coupe, differing from the A5 slightly. Expect a more aggressive front end with larger air intakes and wider side skirts, but the biggest giveaway that this is an S5 is its quad-tip exhaust setup peeking out of the rear of the car.
It’s unclear which powerplant Audi intends to use on its next-generation S5, but expect it to have at least 350 hp, up from the current-generation’s 333 figure. It’s a possibility that the German automaker will continue to use its 3.0-liter supercharged engine, but there’s also the 3.0-liter twin-turbo TDI engine used in the SQ5, Q6 and Q7 models that could be fine tuned with the aid of an electric supercharger for even more power.
As for the rest of its drivetrain, the 2017 Audi S5 will gain a new seven-speed automatic transmission and of course, there will be quattro all-wheel drive.
