Future Porsche Sports Car Teased

Is Porsche planning to take on the Ferrari 488?

The German automaker just won the 24 Hours of Le Mans with its 919 Hybrid race car and a post on the brand’s Facebook page hints at something awesome coming soon.

Three images were actually shared, one pairing the 919 Hybrid with a past Porsche race car, one photo combined with the current 918 Spyder and then there’s the image above, which teases the future of Porsche.

It’s likely that the future Porsche sports car being teased will borrow technology from the 919 Hybrid and it very well could be the rumored Porsche 960 Ferrari fighter.

Aimed to slot between the existing 911 Turbo models and the 918 Spyder, the Porsche 960 would combine a turbocharged powerplant with a hybrid powertrain to target the Ferrari 488 GTB and McLaren sports cars such as the 650S. Expect a lightweight aluminum platform based on the company’s new, modular sport architecture with all-wheel drive as standard and around 600 hp on tap.

Considering Porsche is ready to tease about its next sports car, expect it to debut by 2017 before going on sale with a price tag a bit under $200,000.
