Watch the Aston Martin Vulcan in Action for the First Time Ever

Attendees at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed got to watch the Aston Martin Vulcan in action for the first time ever.

The track-only supercar debuted earlier this year at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, but there it was just sitting pretty for the world to admire. At this year’s Goodwood event, the British automaker took it out for a spin, putting its 7.0-liter V12 to the test in front of an excited crowd. Packing over 800 hp in an all-carbon fiber body, the Aston Martin Vulcan conducted a series of “spine-tingling” sprints up the famous hill climb, as the company put it. Behind the wheel was Aston Martin Racing works’ driver Darren Turner.

The Aston Martin Vulcan will be limited to just 24 units and is intended to be a track-only supercar. Along with its massive 800-plus hp engine, there’s an integral limited-slip differential, magnesium torque tube with carbon fiber propeller shaft and Brembo racing calipers acting on carbon ceramic racing disc brakes. The powerplant is mated to an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox, which drives power to the rear wheels equipped with 345/30/19 Michelin race rubber.

“Seeing the Aston Martin Vulcan unleashed at Goodwood today is a memory I will cherish for many years,” said Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer. “We wanted to give this car its debut on ‘home soil,’ and where better than at this hugely popular and globally renowned event.”
