The Audi Q1 is has been caught testing with its first full body prototype.
Spied in the past using Volkswagen Tiguan bodies as mules, the Audi Q1 will be the smallest member of the German automaker’s Q family. The compact luxury crossover is expected to make its debut next year and will be built on the flexible MQB platform from the Volkswagen Group. That differs from the older Polo platform underpinning the current Audi A1 but do expect some of the powerplants to be shared with the Q1.

The MQB platform being used on the new Q1 can be found underpinning the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf. Although the German automaker hasn’t announced plans on whether the Audi Q1 will be offered in North America, it seems likely considering Audi wants to expand its crossover lineup in the U.S to take advantage of the booming segment.
Expect the Audi Q1 to make its official debut in 2016 before heading to the market as a 2017 model year.
