It’s one of the craziest supercars in the world, and now we get to hear how it sounds at full tilt.
Up until now, the Regera has been kept under wraps having only been driven around Goodwood and the company’s factory, at least on video. Now, Koenigsegg has posted a video on Instagram to share the Regera running its engine, simulating a wide-open sprint from 31 mph to 217 mph.
The Koenigsegg Regera is being billed as a megacar by the Swedish automaker, churning out 1,500 hp through a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine mated to three electric motors. Limited to just 80 units worldwide, the Regera reportedly has a top speed of 248 mph and a 0-62 time of 2.8 seconds. The power is sent through a unique direct drive transmission which provides the car with revs that never drop, but instead slowly sweep right up to 8,250 rpm.

Listen to the tune of the hybrid powertrain as it goes from low rpms to nearly redline, sounding as good as one would expect from a megacar.
