TVR Already Taking Deposits for New 2017 Sports Car

TVR is already taking deposits for its new sports car.

The British automaker announced earlier this year that its revival plan involves launching four new sports cars by 2025, with the first going on sale in 2017. Although it has shown very little of what the new model will look like, the reborn British automaker has already opened up the order books much sooner than initially anticipated. According to TVR, “sports-car enthusiasts the world over are lining up to buy what promises to be one of the most exciting new sports cars of the decade.” Those eager to be early adopters of TVR’s newest wares will have to part ways with £5000 ($7,800) for a deposit.

TVR boss Les Edgar confirmed to Autocar that hundreds of people have already come forward with deposits. And can you blame them? This new sports car was designed by Gordon Murray and will be powered by a Cosworth-developed V8 engine. Initial production in 2017 will be in the low hundreds as the company looks to ramp up after nearly 10 years of absence from the market.

“This is a unique opportunity to be part of the revival of a great British marque,” said TVR operations director John Chasey. “We are a well-funded, well-supported organisation that boasts a vastly experienced management team and a clear 10-year master plan for both product and business development.”
