With Nurburgring times off the table, Koenigsegg has turned to Spa-Francorchamps to claim records.
Taking the Koenigsegg One:1 to another major world-famous track, the Swedish automaker turned in a lap time of 2:34.14, setting a new record. The company had actually ran a 2:33:00 previously at the track, besting the previous record held by the McLaren P1 by five seconds (2:38:00). The company posted a low-resolution video of the run and not only did it beat its previous time, Koenigsegg believes it can go even faster on the track.
That’s because the lap was a “practice” run on regular street tires and the company was unable to do another run because the Koenigsegg One:1 and its 1,340 hp exceeded the 103 dB noise limited imposed on the second day.
The only two cars faster than the Koenigsegg One:1 around Spa-Francorchamps are the Radical SR8LM and SR3 RS, both of which aren’t road-legal production cars. The Radical SR8LM claims the top crown with a lap time of 2:16.00 while the SR3 RS is 2:25.00.
