Unfortunately the next-generation crossover is sporting just as much camouflage as before, which is expected considering the automaker is in the early stages of testing.
The 2018 Audi Q5 will be built on the new, lightweight MLB architecture introduced in the new Audi A4 that will help shed around 225 pounds from the Q5. Many of the new technologies introduced in the Q7 SUV are also expected to be available in the Q5 like the new MMI infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a new touchpad in the center console and a rear seat tablet that controls rear climate and entertainment.
According to our spy photographers, the 2018 Audi Q5 was hot weather testing in Spain and it is looking more evident that the model will be heavily inspired by the new A4’s styling. Expect powertrain options to be shared with the A4, which include four- and six-cylinder standard gasoline and diesel engines. In addition, Audi will electrify the Q5 with a plug-in hybrid variant sporting an all-electric range around 30 miles. To top it all of, a high-performance SQ5 won’t be far behind after the standard Q5 debuts sometime in 2017.
