Lotus Elise Will Return to US in 2020

Lotus will bring the lauded Elise sports car back to the U.S., but driving enthusiasts will have to wait until at least 2020 to get their hands on one.

Sales of the lightweight British two-seater were halted in America in 2011 after it no longer met certain safety regulations and its exemptions expired. The company recently confirmed the Evora will make a return to the U.S. in the form of the 400, which arrives in December of this year. The Evora has been tweaked to get all the right safety certifications, and speaking to Automotive News, Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales said that similar upgrades will be made to the next-generation Elise, due out in 2020.

The struggle for Lotus will be keeping the next-generation Elise light while incorporating the necessary safety equipment like more airbags and changing the front crash structure to be more robust.

Great news for Lotus, we need to put Danny boy Barr behind bars and let him watch the new and exciting success, I hope he is in a trailer court living in a shed back by the sewage system with a exhaust pipe running through the roof.
Well at any point thanks lotus and no thanks to boy Barr
