The Mercedes S-Class cabriolet will make its official debut next month in Germany.
Teased and spied numerous times over the past few months, it has been speculated that the S-Class cabriolet would be unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and now the German automaker has confirmed its presence at the event in September. Mercedes also released the above teaser image of the new S-Class cabriolet, which will feature the company’s enhanced automatic wind protection system, Aircap, as well as the Airscarf neck-level heating system. Helping ensure comfortable conditions in the droptop luxury S-Class are heated armrests, heated rear seats and intelligent fully automatic climate control.
Mercedes hopes that the new S-Class cabriolet will carry on a rich tradition of luxury models that date back to the 1920s. Expect the S-Class cabriolet to mimic the S-Class coupe in terms of powertrain offerings but equipped with a soft top that will retract in about seven seconds. The new S-Class cabriolet will also be the first luxury four-seater convertible since 1971.
“After 44 years we can again offer friends of our company an open variant of the S‑Class. The new S-Class Cabriolet symbolizes our passion for individual and timelessly exclusive mobility, which we share with our customers”, said Ola Källenius, Board Member of Daimler AG, Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales.
