Mercedes-Benz has released the very first glimpse of its upcoming S-Class cabriolet.
Releasing a teaser sketch of the new ultra-luxury convertible, the German automaker confirmed that it’ll be the sixth model of the S-Class family and will be the first luxury four-seater cabriolet since 1971.
Essentially a convertible variant of the S-Class coupe, the model is expected to officially bow at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. With all the automotive festivities going on at Monterey this weekend, Mercedes didn’t want anyone stealing the spotlight and is holding the S-Class convertible for a major auto show debut.
The timing of the sketch’s release can serve as an unofficial confirmation that the S-Class cabriolet will be unveiled next month and we’ve already spotted it testing by our spy photographers. Expect the S-Class convertible to share powertrains with the coupe version but sporting a soft top that will retract in around seven seconds. Check back with AutoGuide.com next month as we’ll be reporting live from the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
