2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Looks Mean in Spy Photos

While the latest European sports cars debut under the lights of the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, Chevrolet is out preparing its latest top-dog muscle car, the 2017 Camaro ZL1.

These new spy photos show off many details of the new Chevy ZL1, including the wide exhaust tips, big grille, sporty front bumper and big front lip spoiler. The hood seems to be sourced from the new CTS-V, featuring heat extractors and a pronounced bulge.

If the new super Camaro follows the formula established by the past ZL1, it will get its power from the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8 found in the CTS-V and Corvette Z06. In the Cadillac, it cranks out 640 hp and 630 lb-ft of torque. Weight loss will definitley be on tap for the ZL1 as well thanks to its new platform, which will surely lead to better lap times and a faster sprint to 60 mph.

The new ZL1 will probably debut at the upcoming 2016 Detroit Auto Show, while the car should begin production sometime in mid-2016.

Can’t follow the looser Fords who have not gumption to change the 65 Mustang look. Same as Porsche with their continuous utterly borinnnnnng 911 look. Even Camaros from the ’90’s were forward looking, unlike now. GM, do not follow the other losers… PLLLLLLLLEASE !

With the new Camaro as a starting point, this ZL1 just had to be bad a$$

  • Hannibal Dobbs

Could they make the windows any smaller?

  • Nicholas_Keen

The blindness of GM to fixing this problem really makes a strong case for the Mustang, or something else altogether.

  • Reckoning Day

Oh really ? So when is the Mustang you ordered coming In ?

  • Nicholas_Keen

What? I’m sorry but I’m afraid you’ve lost me. The slit-like windows on the last Camaro were a bad design decision that I had hoped that GM would put right with the new car. The new design will not find favor with buyers who like to see something of the world around them through the side windows and in their rear-view mirror, who want to place their car accurately when driving fast on narrower twisty roads, and who disliked the tomb like environment of the last iteration.

    Keep telling yourself that…

Note the dark discoloration on the 2 outboard tail pipes. That may not even be a V8 under the hood! The rear spoiler screams V6!
