Comedians Take on Volkswagen Diesel Scandal

It was only a matter of time before Volkswagen became the center of attention for comedians.

The German automaker has conquered the media with its massive dieselgate scandal and HBO hosts Bill Maher and John Oliver aren’t holding back. The two talk show hosts poked fun at Volkswagen the last few days on their respective shows, with Maher’s team coming up with mock ads, while Oliver not only gave his unique perspective on the issue, but his team also came up with a hilarious commercial for the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta.

So far, there hasn’t been any good news at all regarding Volkswagen’s diesel scandal, as the realization that its vehicles polluted 10 to 40 times the legal amount isn’t even an exaggeration. Since the admittance, the company’s CEO has stepped down and is facing billions in fines. The company also couldn’t pick a worse time to debut the new 2016 Volkswagen Passat, as Oliver points out in his segment.
