Poll: BMW M2 or Ford Focus RS?

Poll: BMW M2 or Ford Focus RS?

We know these cars have almost nothing to do with each other, but we are equally excited about both of them.

The rear-wheel-drive BMW M2 could be the BMW we’ve been hoping for to restore our faith in the German brand, while the AWD Ford Focus RS is a hooner’s dream come true.

The M2 will be powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine with 370 hp and 343 lb-ft of torque. The Focus RS will have a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 350 hp and 350 lb-ft. Wait a second. That means only 20 horsepower separates the two, and the Ford actually has more torque.

Which awesome sports compact are you more excited for? Vote in the poll below for the one you want more.

But first, read more about the BMW M2 here, and the Ford Focus RS here.

I like the fact that so many auto makers are investing time and money developing cars for a small but purest market. Personally I’d take neither car but can’t wait for their comparisons and reviews to come out. I give my nod to the ford knowing that it’s in a more affordable bracket. What I’d really wanna see is the eco boost mustangs performance pack come with this hp bump and more stiffer ride, so ford cam really say their car has a performance pack on it!

Whoring can pay well “Marisela”. Can I assume you have a long family tradition in the business?

I drive the Focus ST right now. That car knows how to put a smile on your face. I just can’t wait to see how the RS shapes up. Definitely would love to own one in the future.

the winner is the car enthusiast…the focus and M2 will have as much in common as bacon and eggs…each a winner in their own right in 10 years you’ll own a BMW or Ford…you decide!

Ordering my RS any day now.

I would bite your hand off to own either car, but if I had to choose, would go M2 because I like RWD, but would be hoping that BMW has the EPS steering feel improvements with this latest launch.
RS, many pro’s above the M2, (AWD, hot hatch, drift mode, price, maintenance) – the unknown is how neutral the RS will feel, but Ford is claiming that the trick handling will provide the ability get good rotation.
In reality, the RS is a nearer reality car for me, the M2 is less practical, more pricey…..a Cayman or 911, though that is the stuff of dreams.

Very cool – do you think you will at MSRP or expecting dealer markups? I played with the configurator and I liked the base car, the only option I checked were the optional lighter rims, so was looking at $38k, which sounds reasonable for what you get.

  • mmincey

My boss’ son is my salesman. This dealer is saying $1000 down. No dealer markup. Another told me over the weekend $5000 down and a $5000 markup. That’s where I got my ST. I told them they were crazy.

  • Mark S

That $5000 markup is crazy, but if the RS numbers in the US are limited, they may get what they are asking for. Hopefully there is enough supply and the dealer is just trying it on while they think they can. Like the Stealth Grey color myself, but all of the colors they have chosen work well on the car, you are definitely getting whose content and performance car that earns the RS badge.

  • mmincey

Yeah, they actually are getting 3 and already have someone that has reserved 1, but if I can do it at msrp, then I’m all about it. I’m liking the blue to match the calipers. I’m not a big fan of the blue calipers with the black body paint. Would prefer the red like I have now on my Tuxedo black ST. Configured, I’m at $42,970.

  • Mark S

That 38k I got was with restraint and omitting the special tires, the pack with the heated seats….I think many will be great than 40k after options. The blue is very very cool, but I like the grey (fan of Audi’s Nardo Grey). At this rate, the only way I will afford an RS is used, but still very cool that the RS badge is in the US; Ford will hopefully think this is a great idea and agree to send more RS variants to the US in the future.
